The Tripura Adibashi Mahila Samity was established in 1953 however it has got its legal identity through its registration under section XXII of the societies Registration Act 1860 at Agartala during 1964. Tripura Adibashi Mahila Samity (TAMS) was formally registered on September 25,1964.

TAMS is also affiliated to all India Women Conference(AIWC),New Delhi and the Kusturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust (KGMNT), New Delhi. It is also a state acting as a Branch of the AIWC but it has created a separate body for the Trust to organize its initiatives independently.
